Appointment Policies

Clear expectations before the appointment.

These policies apply to appointments and services provided by Oahu Notary Services unless different written terms are agreed to for a specific assignment.

Cancellation, Rescheduling & No-Show Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please provide at least three (3) hours' notice. Appointments cancelled or rescheduled with at least three (3) hours' notice will not incur any fee.

Appointments cancelled with less than three (3) hours' notice, or appointments where the client fails to appear at the agreed-upon time and location, may be subject to a $30 scheduling fee. The scheduling fee helps offset the time reserved for your appointment and the inability to offer that appointment time to another client.

Exceptions may be made for emergencies or circumstances beyond the client's control.

Refund Policy

All payments are final and non-refundable. This policy is subject to any refund rights that cannot legally be waived. If the notarial portion is rejected because of an error made by Oahu Notary Services, our Acceptance Guarantee provides for correction of our notarial work at no additional charge.

Payment Accepted

  • Cash
  • Check
  • Credit/debit card through Square and/or PayPal
  • Venmo

Hawaiʻi GET is added to applicable fees. Final pricing is confirmed before the appointment is scheduled.

Witness Availability

Some documents require one or more witnesses in addition to the notary. The client is responsible for confirming the required number of witnesses and any qualification or disqualification rules with the document preparer, receiving agency, or attorney.

Clients are encouraged to provide their own qualified witness(es). If you cannot provide a required witness, ask about availability before scheduling. Oahu Notary Services may be able to arrange one witness for an additional $25 by advance request, subject to availability and the document's requirements. Witness availability is not guaranteed.

Client Responsibility & Limitation of Responsibility

By scheduling or using Oahu Notary Services, the client acknowledges that a notary public performs a notarial act and does not determine the legal validity, legal effect, enforceability, sufficiency, tax consequences, or suitability of the underlying document or transaction.

The client is responsible for the document's contents, completeness, required notarial act, witness requirements, filing or recording requirements, deadlines, and acceptance requirements of the receiving agency or other third party. Questions about legal rights, document meaning, or legal consequences must be directed to the document preparer or a licensed attorney.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Oahu Notary Services is not responsible for losses arising from the document's content or legal effect, a receiving party's decision to reject a document for reasons unrelated to our notarial error, third-party or government processing delays, incorrect instructions supplied by the client or document preparer, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

Nothing in this policy limits responsibility that cannot lawfully be waived or limited. Our Acceptance Guarantee continues to apply when a notarization is rejected because of an error in our notarial portion.

Not Legal Advice

Oahu Notary Services is not a law firm. We do not select a notarial act for a client, draft legal documents, choose legal provisions, or provide legal advice. If your document does not state what notarial act is required, contact the document preparer, receiving agency, or a licensed attorney before the appointment.
